We live in a world that is inherently broken by the sin of us against them. We live in a world that is replete with racial injustice, poverty, abuse, and violence. We live in a world, where evil is consistently rising from sin. So in response to this brokenness, God’s call to us is to come close, to get face-to-face with insiders and outsiders alike. Come close to the person or people in our church who lack connection, come close to the person or group of people we believe to be unworthy. Come close and get face-to-face with our neighbors who are made in God’s image.
