The very point of the Advent season is this, we are waiting on God, God is not waiting on us. That’s why James calls us to wait with patience because how we wait for the Lord, how we wait for our earthly desires—matters. The call for us on the First Sunday of Advent, is simply to ask the indwelling Spirit for the fruit of patience as we endure our lives in the waiting.
