➨ Interesting facts about the song:
Cheerleader is a 2012 Jamaican reggae song by reggae/soul/urban pop artist OMI (Omar Samuel Pasley) on Oufah Records. In 2014 it was remixed by German DJ and music producer Felix Jaehn and released by Sony Music as Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix). This version went on to become a number-one hit in Australia, Austria, Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia), Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland.
Cheerleader was originally due to be released in the UK in May 2015, however it was brought forward to April due to a fake version gaining popularity and popular demand, having peaking on the UK Singles Chart at number 27 on audio streams alone.
Critics have said that ‘Cheerleader' doesn't fit the 2014 pop song formula. Where most of 2014's hits were by pre-established pop stars, neither Omi nor Felix Jaehn even have Wikipedia pages of their own at the moment. The song has a very fun, laid back vibe and for me is a song I would enjoy having a dance to! I wanted to mix it up and create an acoustic vibe – please take a listen and let me know what you think!
