After 9 years as CEO, Tim Lindsay recently assumed the Chair of D&AD, the world’s premier advertising awards organisation. With over 800 shows worldwide, and almost 1000 awards on offer at Cannes this year, we discuss whether award-bloat has jumped the relevance shark. We also debate the general health of the business and what the industry could be doing better to not only fix its ongoing diversity problems but also, the wider consumption-driven issues that blight the planet. It is becoming increasingly apparent that the world could do with a “Live Aid moment” perhaps driven by the world’s top advertisers.
