Today we are joined by the Managing Director of Key Production. Karen is a born leader who for the past three decades has guided her company through the ups and downs of both the music and manufacturing industries driven by a sheer determination to be the last one standing. Born and bred in North London, she studied Genetics at Leeds University where she was also the Ents Sec, a role that saw her booking indie bands and gaining a perspective that led to her career start with Rough Trade Distribution. There, she worked her way up to production manager before leaving to set up Key at the age of 25. In January 2010, Karen bought an island in Nicaragua and built a small sustainable hotel which is receiving rave reviews in the world’s leading travel sites and magazines. She believes the secret is to be brave and follow your dreams but also in ‘doing the sums’ so that any risks you take are always mitigated ones.
