Dr. Duane Vandenbusche spoke to members of the community about the history of coal mining the morning of Friday, May 26th. The Crested Butte Cemetery Committee is working on memorial for victims of the Jokerville Mine Disaster. Learn about what happened at the Jokerville Mine, the Big Mine, and about why our coal was so heavily sought after (and likely would be today as there is still plenty of coal in those hills).
