Description

Ranching and recreation both need to exist for the community and economy in the Gunnison Valley to work, local leaders say. One example of how ranching and recreation have come together is with rafter-friendly fences, that keep cattle on one side, while allowing for passage of river users. These can be seen on the Upper Slate River (which is likely too low to float at this point), and they replace traditional wire fences that can tangle up boaters.
