Contraception today is more safe, well tolerated, reliable and cost effective than ever before which is wonderful. Contraception gives us all the ability to choose if and when we may like to try for a baby in our life.
Unfortuately, we hear sometimes negative stories from friends or the media about varying contraception methods that have put us off exploring our options more fully.
Sometimes with more choice, comes more confusion so MediTalkPodcast was able to spend time with Sexual Health Quarters (SHQ) Medical Director
Dr Richelle Douglas to ask the questions we need answered to help us make the best decision for us about contraception.
Dr Douglas provides us all an overview of what is new in contraception and answers our common questions and concerns. Some of the excellent questions Dr Douglas answers in the interview are:
What contraception should I consider if I am worried about the affect of hormones?
What contraception offers the best cover?
Do IUD's hurt?
What is the truth about IUDs, implants and depo injections?
How long do the varying birth control options provide cover for nowadays?
Where can you have your implanon inserted?
Is there long term side effects to taking contraception?
Can I still get pregnant after being on contraception for years?
What if I have issues with acne, what is the best contraception to go on to help my skin and for good birth control?
Does skipping having my period okay when taking on contraception okay?
Please take some time out of our day to get the facts on what's new in contraception and listen to a doctor who specialises in sexual health help answer some of our questions on contraception.
If you have additional questions or would like to reach out to SHQ all there details are noted below. Also your local medical practitioner (GP) is a great resource as well for contraception information and guidance.
