Being a good leader and a good marketer are completely different skills. There is a reason that every “online marketer” who has tried their hand at MLM generally builds a huge team initially and then are never heard from again. Why?
Because they’re marketers, not leaders.
On the flip side you can find teams of people with INCREDIBLE leadership skills but with atrocious recruiting and marketing abilities. (Think hotel & home meetings, postin’ and prayin’ on Facebook, Instagram stalking and the like.)
This is the type of team I came from back in the day. The team is literally second to none in terms of communication ability, stage presence, creating the “want” in someone and creating heartstrings among people that couldn’t be broken with a nuclear warhead.
Problem is. They fell into the stalking Walmart, calling grandma and sending out flyers camp.
Needless to say, compared to a real marketer, they didn’t stand a chance in the recruiting game. Still don’t.
But retention. Creating a team atmosphere. Creating a cult-ure. Geez, these people know what they’re doing.
You need BOTH of these to succeed at the highest level in MLM.
