This excerpt from the Persian “Shahnameh” (Book of kings), read out loud as part of the Mind’s Eye workshop featuring artist Khadim Ali, recounts a series of epic battles fought between the hero, Rustam, and an unknown young warrior called Sohrab—who is later, tragically, revealed to be Rustam’s own son.
