Welcome to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. I’m its director, Richard Armstrong.
As you hear this, you may be enjoying architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic spiral. This stunning space, opened in 1959, embodies Wright’s vision to create a “temple” for art. Today, it remains a place of memorable experiences for all who enter—curators, artists, our dedicated staff, and you, our visitors. Through your appreciation of art and culture, you breathe life into this building every day.
With this Digital Guide in your hand, you can enhance your visit with stories about the architecture and exhibitions on view. You can tap images to find audio or texts, or look for numbers on the wall to type into the Guide.
This year is the building’s 60th anniversary, and more than ever, we’re glad you’re here to celebrate this architectural masterpiece. We thank you for visiting the Guggenheim—a museum like no other.
