Dame Christine Cole Catley was a journalist, publisher, teacher and author who was involved in PEN NZ from the 1950's. Known for her commitment to writing and publishing in New Zealand she was also deeply committed to other writers - teaching and encouraging them and working to set up systems and organisations which protected writers rights, freedoms and incomes.
