Marquis Hawkes latest release for Houndstooth, following on from the excellent ‘Raw Materials’ EP earlier this year, is a soulful affair.
On his third 12” for the London label, the British producer reworks snippets of R&B vocals into slinky slow-burners like ‘Sweet’ and ’When I Get Home’.
‘At The Witness Stand’, which you can hear in full below, is one of the release’s standout tracks: a slick 808 jam that blends together handclaps and harmonies over a funky bassline.
Sweet is out 30th October on Houndstooth.
