After the landmark 100th release, Swiss label !Organism push on with their 101st, this time from True Story, a true veteran who chisels compelling techno with an emotional core. Spaniard Rraph also appears in remix mode.
True Story is a musical puppet master who is always on the hunt for the perfect sound and perfect beat. The UK DJ and producer has released on labels like Syncopat and always delivers knock out punches.
Up first is the no nonsense ‘Prelude’ which is heavy and forceful, with nervy synths making for an absorbingly industrial vibe. It will make a big impact on the floor and the punchy, post apocalyptic ‘Absolute’ is much the same with circling pads and menacing bass making for an intense atmosphere.
Rraph is someone very much with his ear to the pulse. He A&Rs for Elektrax Music and Gynoid Audio and releases on Counter Pulse and Translucent amongst others. His version of ‘Absolute’ is much harder and quicker, with frenetic synth lines scurrying above rooted drums. Smoggy clouds and lo fi textures make it a truly arresting affair.
Lastly, ‘Sovereign’ is dubbed but intense, with static and squeaking synths peppering the heads down and marching groove. This is impressive warehouse techno, make no mistake.
There are few techno labels as consistent as this one, and this new EP is another case in point.
