Chris Kleinmann is next up on !Organism, and his red-hot originals come bolstered with a fine remix from Xhei.

Kleinmann is a German artist who sits at the top table of techno. His powerful sound is one that brings an immediate emotional reaction, and it comes on labels like Wall Music and TK Records. As a DJ he manages to craft forceful stories that have taken him to play legendary spaces like Tresor in Berlin, and with his latest two track he once again impresses.

Up first is ‘Reflex’, a solid track that is haunting in atmosphere and serious in mood. That’s thanks to a nagging lead synth line that rocks back and forth and never resolves while rooted kicks drive along below. Hi hats grow in size and the intensity levels are ramped up throughout without ever fully boiling over. It makes for an absorbing ride.

Then comes the brilliantly physical ‘Argon’, seven scintillating minutes of spine-tingling techno with icy hi hats looped over drums cut from rock. It is economical yet intense and sparse yet hugely effective in the way the track sucks you in and never lets you go.

On the remix of this one is Xhei, an Argentinean who take this cues from all the biggest main room techno innovators from Dave Clarke to Oscar Mulero. He is resident at Under Club back home too, and with this remix goes for something that is deep and supple and takes you through the darkened universe in high octane fashion.

For an EP that offers both heady and visceral techno thrills, look no further than this excellent release.
