In a time where live music events are cancelled for public safety, and even jamming in the same room with friends is risky, Moab’s music community is trying to figure out how to stay connected. Local musicians have seen their spring gigs evaporate, so they are re-adjusting to a new reality, one with virtual tip jars and mutual creative sessions via apps. Today on Earful, we check in with a few of Moab’s musicians about their experience, and how they are keeping the local music scene going at home and online.
Show Notes:
Thank you to Moab musicians Jon O, Lisa Hathaway, Jeff Brennan, and Josie Kovash for sharing your thoughts for this piece. Music clips heard in today’s Earful are from virtual Community Music Night, a socially distant stoop concert by the Railbirds, Jon O Radio, and Laurel Hagen, who sang ‘Il Canto della Verbena,’ in a red rock side canyon.
