Since early 2019, both the city and county councils have taken steps to pause new overnight accommodations. In Moab City, hotels are currently removed from all zones as a permitted use. That is, until staff and elected officials can create new development standards to get overnight accommodations locals can live with. Moab City is currently hammering out the fine print of their proposed development standards, focusing on the Resort Commercial area north of downtown.
