The small town of Bluff in neighboring San Juan County is grappling with its first potential development issue since becoming an incorporated municipality. Just one month after the town council officially took office, they received a petition to disconnect 391 acres on nearby Comb Ridge. Approve the disconnection, the letter said, or face an expensive lawsuit. As they decide what to do, worries over the potential development of that acreage looms large. Many townspeople want to maintain local control over growth - it's why they voted to incorporate the town in the first place.
