Description

A bill that would ban uranium mining permanently in the Grand Canyon region has passed the US House and is now in the Senate. Conservationists say the bill is necessary to protect groundwater in the region, but as our partners at KJZZ report in a two-part story, at least one mine could still go into production. Slush funds, environmental concerns, the cold war – all play into the history of uranium mining on the Arizona strip.
