Rainy Afternoon by Dark Company.
From CD 1, 'SNAFU', of the triple CD album 'A for Acronym'.
RAINY AFTERNOON
You see ropes around their necks
They’re just there for fun
Not tied or hitched in any way
Nothing from them is swung
Just for fashion, darkened passion
Against their milk white gowns
As every night they slowly fall
And in my senses drown
Carpet tiles wreathed in smiles
Lingering on my landing
Dumbly coloured and poorly lit
They have their understanding
Arriving packed in neat bound stacks
And pulled tight with a band
If laid out in certain shapes
A door to another land
Gaudy chalk in boxes marked
Lying there just for taking
No price or test of any sort
Just for pictures making
And beware to have some care
Of what you use them for
What drawings that you do create
Or they'll come back for more

FUN FACTS:
* This is a song that Pete never sang a proper studio version of and his vocals were lifted from the very rough demo and cleaned up a bit.
* Well, quite a lot actually. :)
* The original lead guitar had a dirty sound that simply didn't work, but when Zakk used a clean tone, all the parts suddenly sounded good.
* Pete actually deviated somewhat from the lyrics he wrote when he sang this, perhaps due to tiredness or being unable to see the lyrics very well.
* The melody he sings remains the same throughout if you want to try singing along.
* The key changes weave an audible illusion of variations that are not actually there.
* The lead guitar is played on Nicodemus.
* The guitar in the right channel is Barry on the ESP, with Zakk playing the Ice Maiden to the left.
