Let’s talk to Barbara and (name), an ambitious, entrepreneurial mother-son duo that brought to life Afriibol; the African snack with a mission. Hailing from Southern Cameroon, Barbara and her family moved to the Netherlands several years ago. Barbara has a knack for adapting her African-born ideas to the dutch consumer market, so when she was able to ‘remix’ the much-loved oliebollen, she realised she was sitting on a gold mine. However, upon hearing a heartbreaking story about underprivileged women in her home in Cameroon, she found the purpose which then pushed her to make this more than just a business. Afriibol became more than just a snack for the masses - it became a tool to fund-raise for impoverished women to access healthcare in Cameroon. This was the vision that created authenticity for the product and the force behind it. Tune in to get a peek behind the scenes of the food product industry, and learn how an experiment from a mothers kitchen went from her sons plate to being stocked in the biggest supermarket chain in the country, all while supporting a charitable cause in Cameroon through the profits.
