CRUSHED DREAMS AND ENDLESS DESPAIR

You can’t deny that there’s something sorrowful about the music of the Norwegian band Chain Wallet, but beneath the heavy layers of synth and reverb, you will find pop gold in its purest form.

The band is a breath of fresh air in today’s Norwegian music scene, and their gloomy but catchy pop songs are a good introduction to the band. Even though Chain Wallet don’t have many genre colleagues in Norway, the band easily joins the ranks behind international indie greats like Wild Nothing, Twin Shadow and Washed Out.

These days Chain Wallet are working intensively on their debut album, but to give people a taster of what they have in store, we already now release the band’s first single, «Muted Colours». The simple guitar picking and the nostalgic synth textures make the song perfect for the summer days when you just want to float over the city, or dance yourself sweaty in a dark basement. You may call it romantic post-punk.

On this song the band show their absolute strength, which isn’t just writing songs that unavoidably stick to your cerebellum, but also erase the divide between sorrow and happiness. You will be left with a feeling of both nostalgia and pensiveness, at the same time as you’re damned happy. That’s the impact good music should have.
