DARLING WEST IS THE ESSENCE OF NORDIC AMERICANA
The last twelve months of Darling West’s musical career can hardly be described as anything else than fantastic. Since the release of their second album, «Vinyl and a Heartache», they have played concerts all over the world, been listed on the biggest radio channels in Norway and appeared on the Top 100 Country charts in the US, been played more than three million times on Spotify, been booked to the biggest festivals in Norway, Americanafest in Nashville, Folk Alliance in Kansas City, Eurosonic in Groningen, Holland and won a Norwegian Grammy.
Despite all this, the band have no plans of resting on their acquired laurels, and now they’re releasing their fourth single from the album which is set to be released February 16th, 2018.
They haven't changed much these last twelve months, but you could still hear a new and revitalized Darling West. The band is still playing their sweet americana/country/folk, but there’s a lot more drive in the music and the melodies are catchier than before.
«Loneliness» is the fourth single from their upcoming album. It was recorded with Bård Ingebrigtsen in Amper Tone Studios, Oslo, and was mixed by Marcus Forsgren (Jaga Jazzist).
The band is saying this about the song: «It’s one of those songs that took a very short time to write. Sometimes an idea takes days or weeks to develop, but “Loneliness” was written in an hour or two. It just immediately felt right.
With classic Darling West ingredients such as banjo, pedal steel and heartache, and a killer drum groove pushing it along, it leaves you smiling through your tears».
As mentioned above, the last twelve months have been great, but there’s nothing that indicates that the next twelve won’t be even better.
