Pictured are Kraig & Sarah Kniphfer of Wren, Georgia. Sarah is a teacher at Baker Place Elementary School in Grovetown, Georgia. Both Kraig & Sarah are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their first baby, Karah Grace. Karah Grace is a much anticipated, prayed for, and longed for baby girl. Right now, Karah Grace & her parents are desperately in need of your prayers & support.
What doctors know is that Karah Grace is missing a kidney and the one she has isn't working. Sarah is receiving amnio infusions in hopes that baby Karah's lungs will develop and function well. This is a very specialized and complicated procedure which will need to be performed weekly and soon multiple times a week. Best case survival to dialysis is about 50%, which means there is hope for Karah Grace and the Kniphfer family!
Karah Grace is due April 17th, and there are a lot of things that will determine her eligibility for dialysis as she awaits a kidney transplant. At this time, there are still a great deal of unknowns ahead and the Kniphfers are facing significant financial cost with medical bills and travel back and forth to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Kraig & Sarah are leaving for Cincinnati, Ohio, in a couple of days and will stay the remainder of pregnancy and throughout dialysis and kidney transplant surgery. Cincinnati is 600 miles from their home in Wren.
Sarah’s cousin, Liz Kieler, who is a bee keeper and maker of artisan lip balm and beeswax food wraps, wanted to help by donating half of her sales from Kieler Bee Homestead to Baby Karah’s fundraising effort. Kieler Bee Homestead has several lip balm flavors to choose from. Personally, I ordered peppermint, chocolate cake, and vanilla, but there are other flavors available like coffee, lavender, and more flavors coming soon!
