Marcus is also encouraging those who do not have Type O positive blood to still contact the program because they could be matched up with another patient in need.
Edwards said he doesn't want his case to be the only one that gets attention, mentioning the roughly 80,000 people on the national kidney transplant waiting list.
"I want to be a component to help bring awareness and help encourage these people who aren't matching to please help and save a life. I just want to shine a light on the need for kidney donors in our country."
