Description

Yesterday, Cora & I traveled to Alexander City, the home of RadioAlabama’s KiX 96. After we made a couple of stops, it was lunch time. As we passed Carib Kitchen, I asked Cora if she would be interested in trying Caribbean food and she was all in. When we walked in, there were two ladies in the small and welcoming restaurant. It reminded me of my old place. The lady who served us was Dianne Khan. Originally from Trinidad, Dianne is the cooking know-how behind Carib Kitchen. I found out the other lady was an aunt of Dianne’s who was visiting. After sharing about the show with Dianne, she shared some of the great community work she is doing through the restaurant. She went on to tell me about some difficult times she faced as a child at the hands of abusers. She has taken her experiences and put her thoughts on paper, writing over 50 books! I wanted Dianne to share her story to inspire others who may be going through abuse or who have experienced abuse, so I asked if she would do an interview. She agreed, so I set everything up on a table and Dianne shared. On tonight’s show, you're hearing Dianne share the pain that she has turned into purpose. As I type this, I’m glad Cora wanted to try Caribbean. I believe that decision is going to help some people. You are a hero, Dianne! In your darkest moments, don’t ever forget that. Listen & share.
