At two years old, Maggie was originally diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in March of 2019. Maggie achieved remission on her 3rd birthday. However, in January of 2020, Maggie relapsed and this time not only was the cancer in her bone marrow and blood, but she also had tumors in her brain. The whirlwind began again and Maggie received chemo, total body radiation, and a bone marrow transplant. At one point, Maggie achieved remission with her bone marrow showing no cancer only to find out later that the cancer was back. Maggie has spent months in the hospital and hasn’t been able to go home since her BMT. Kathryn has been by Maggie’s side since her diagnosis.
