A class action for Northern Territory Stolen Generations members and their descendants has been resolved, with more than 50 million dollars to be paid to deceased estates and relatives.
While the settlement needs formal court approval, lawyers have told a Darwin judge they have reached an agreement.
The class action began before survivors set up a federal compensation scheme for Stolen generation survivors but continued the action for compensation for relatives and carers for those Stolen Generation survivors who have died.
Lead Claimant Eileen Cummings said it was important to recognise those who have now passed on.
