Australian mining companies BHP and Rio Tinto have joined the push for an Indigenous voice to federal parliament.
In a speech at an event in Perth on Thursday the BHP chief executive, Andrew Mackenzie, told a business event in Perth his company cannot stand on the sidelines of the issue
The company will also contribute about $1m to a project raising awareness among the about the Indigenous voice to parliament and the Statement From The Heart.
Reconciliation Australia welcomed the support and say it’s an example of corporate Australia embracing social responsibility. CAAMA's Philippe Perez spoke to their CEO and Bundjalung woman Karen Mundine and initially asked what she made of the decision.
