Description

Listeners are invited to be a fly on the wall as myself and two Black femme VA organizers talk candidly (cuz they didn’t know i was recording😂) with me. Thank you to Richmond For All co-founder Jasmine Leeward and Director of Brown Virginia Jewel Jordan for your work and for giving me permission to air our private conversation.⁣

After a year of 1619 promises for reconciliation from the top officials in Virginia, the work of these racial justice champions has not let up.⁣

In 2020, on Martin Luther King day, the Northam administration chose to protect white militia organizing rather than groups run by BIPOC who planned to use this holiday as a celebration and for a day of action.⁣

The racist systems continue to be protected under the Northam administration and this isn’t what reconciliation looks like. ⁣

The Virginia Democrats also haven’t shifted in ⁣tactics to silence racist narratives even after reflecting on 400 years of the history of our Commonwealth. On February 15th DPVA invited Mike Bloomberg as the keynote for their Blue Commonwealth Gala. ⁣

This episode is a debrief with two champions of social justice and two of my best friends as they recount January 20th and how that inspired February 15th disruption that gained over 3 million views on social media. ⁣

Big thanks to the End of the Line: pipelinepodcast for helping to produce this episode! It was amazing working with u! Check them out and catch up on why anti-pipeline advocates were calling Northam’s administration racist way before a yearbook picture. Congrats to all on winning the latest court case against Dominion! ⁣
