The storm of God’s judgment on Saul fell in 1 Samuel 31, but the thunder was heard long before when Israel wanted to establish their own king now rather than waiting for God’s king later. In this final message of our 1st Samuel sermon series, Alan offers several reflections from chapter 31, including the futility of making plans without God, the widespread effects sin, the dishonor this can bring to God’s name, and God’s continued work in tragedy. Even in the sin and death of King Saul, we can see it pointing forward to Christ, the king who paid for it all. This message follows announcements, including a look ahead to our Christmas program.
