"Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them..." (Matthew 6:1). Giving, prayer and fasting are good things unless they're done with the wrong motives. Nick Reed preaches on the piety found in the first 8 verses of Matthew 6, where Jesus unmasks the hypocrisy of the Pharisees doing religious deeds to gain honor for themselves. Jesus is after our hearts, and a heart of humility brings much greater reward than we can ever gain for ourselves.
