Stravinsky considered by many to be one of the most important and influential composers of the 20th century. Stravinsky's compositional career was notable for its stylistic diversity. He was a 20th century primitivist, neoclassical and jazz composer. His "Russian phase" was followed in the 1920s by a period in which he turned to neoclassical music.
He became a naturalized United States citizen in 1945. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in 1987 he was posthumously awarded the Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement. He was posthumously inducted into the National Museum of Dance's Mr. & Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Hall of Fame in 2004.
