Description

Eyes Ninety:

Kicking it off in 2014, Eyes Ninety make erratic garage that dabbles into punk, post-punk and classic Australian rock ‘n’ roll. Their members are a part of a few renowned Brisbane bands such as The Standing 8 Counts, Chinese Burns and Eat Laser Scumbag!, however Eyes Ninety are their own beast. With furious bass and guitar lines backed by upbeat drumming that keeps the pace, vocalist Tom Beaumont shouts and screams with various levels of energy while the second guitar detaches itself almost completely from the rest of the group and carves its own path which makes you uncomfortably unsure if the band is either about to erupt into chaos or dwindle down into nothingness.

It’s this feeling of uncertainty that creates such a bubbling atmosphere of energy that makes Eyes Ninety the great band that they are. In 2015, they released their self-titled debut album through Swashbuckling Hobo Records, which features 9 tracks of sharp lo-fi production that suits the band’s aesthetics to a ‘T’.

Recorded live at The Bearded Lady, Brisbane on the 27th of May 2016.
Recorded by Nell Forster & mixed by Branko Cosic.

A Country Practice:

A Country Practice is a family band playing songs that draw on their childhood growing up in the rural Lockyer Valley. Stories of droughts, cattle farming and summer storms feature throughout their songs. The three piece consists of husband & wife Joel & Kelly, and Joel’s brother Andrew, who wrap their simple nylon string guitar ballads in hazy broken electronic beats and melodies and the sort of vocal harmonies you’d expect from family members. A Country Practice was formed out of the ashes of Ambitious Lovers, which were featured in Episode 115 of Live Delay.

Recorded live at the Sonic Masala Festival on the 13th of August 2016.
Recorded by Reuben Aptroot & mixed by Joel Saunders.

Airing details: Originally via Zed Digital, 7-8pm, Sunday 2nd of October 2016.
Show production and engineering: Branko Cosic.
