Club Unique proudly presents a showcase of Ōtautahi underground dance music talent with a new VA release. CU008 is our biggest release to date, and is packed with aural delights ranging from introspective house joints, to atmospheric 140 territory.
CU founders Keanu Raves & Malware Md set the scene with a moody lo-fi house groove which segues into a feelgood synthwave nostalgia trip. Off the back of his debut vinyl release for new Pōneke imprint Rays Records, Patella takes over with a tasteful minimal-tech groove peppered with Rhodes melodies and acid tinges.
Next up it’s Harvo, returning to CU with his solo debut for the label, Faceless. This spellbinding production conjures up waves of euphoria with its hypnotic rolling bassline and pensive synth pads...
We awake in unfamiliar territory... best radio for reinforcements. The breakout dub commander Anima has our back, deploying a tight network of bass hooks to guide us through ominous atmospheres and stealthy percussive traps!
Continuing our agenda, we feature a pair of handcrafted B2B hardware jams. On Scripter, Toronja coaches raw drums and warped vocals through an aerobic workout of acid patterns. Meanwhile, groove engineering duo Toyota move ever closer to cyberpunk style hardware integration, welding together organic and artificial textures on Machine Mentality.
Closing out the release is the enigmatic talent Rosetown with his relentless rave epic, Trouble in Babylon. This masterful orchestration is the perfect soundtrack for both the end of the night, and the end of civilisation as we know it. Use it wisely!
