For all of us who have ever wished an old tree could tell us their story; the vast, wide girthed, towering, reaching, encompassing, dizzying ones that we might just be lucky enough to encounter at the corner of our street, in the park or reserve, on a hillside by the sea, or deep in the bush where few folks tread. Every tree has a tale to tell, if only we stop and listen.
Children have a deep connection with the trees of their childhood; they know the nooks that are good for sitting, or the footholds for climbing, or the perfect shade for resting in. This song is a wish for those trees’ protection, both singly and in their multitudes, for our very existence may just depend on them.
