Description

The system of our bodies is a bit like an orchestra being kept in time by some divine inner rhythm. When we tune into the pattern made by our beating hearts, our breaths, our footsteps and the purposeful music we can make with our hands as we clap in time, we are better able to appreciate the rhythms of nature and the world around us too.
The way our wake and sleep cycles connects in with the days and seasons is called our circadian rhythm, or our body clock.
A fun activity to do with this song is for kids to try out different ways of creating body percussion, and actions reflecting the patterns in the song. How would we represent the beat of a heart? The flash of neurons? The pulsing of blood in our veins? Like the song lyrics say: feet can stamp, fingers click and hands clap or simply hold our hands to our chest and feel and listen to the beat of our own hearts.
