Description

This is a wintertime counting song. It’s super fun to learn how to make pom poms - they’re really easy with a little practise and the right materials. These days there are pom poms everywhere - dangling off backpacks, bobbing from pencil tops and adorning scarfs, jackets and keychains and more.

Pom pom making is something our mum taught us as kids. It felt like magic, endlessly winding yarn around double layered cardboard donut shapes cut out from cereal boxes. Then the feeling of cutting through the layers and extracting the cardboard to be left with a satisfyingly fluffy, densely packed puffball. We could change colours as we went to make a rainbow pom pom, or vary the size of the donut to make teeny ones or giant ones. No winter beanie was complete without one. You should try it!
