Description

Season 4 Episode 03 – Matthew Wilson, Chief, Special Projects (Partnerships, Relations with UN RCs, Diversity & Inclusion) at International Trade Centre.

For our 40th episode, I host Matthew Wilson. I have wanted to invite him to the podcast for some time now, and I am thrilled we finally made it happen. Matthew is from Barbados and a professional with over 20 years in Trade & Development. But that is just scratching the surface. He is a passionate advocate for equality and human rights. In his current role as Chief Special Projects, he focuses a lot of time on Diversity and Inclusion at the International Trade Center (ITC).

As a commitment to diversity, he becomes my first guest from the Caribbean, and having had such an insightful conversation, I truly hope he is not the last one.

We cover a lot of ground, touching on photography, comics, International Relations, change management, racism, trade, and everything in between.

During Matthew’s student days in Barbados, he was part of a talented group of students who have become great leaders across different areas and great promoters of Barbados. Then, Matthew tells us about what was working for Pascal Lamy during his tenure as Director General at the WTO and his transition to ITC as Chief of Staff to Ms. Arancha González.

Unfortunately, there were some great conversation bits that we couldn’t capture with the mics, but perhaps that is an excuse to invite him back as a guest.

Matthew is truly a leader in International Geneva, and I was pleased to meet him during our delightful conversation. I hope you enjoy it.
