Amelia Baker aka Cinder Well has just released her third album Cadence with Free Dirt Records. From California, Baker has come to call Co Clare home - her previous record No Summer was a love letter to her adopted home. A fiddle player, it was an encounter with Lankum a decade ago that gave her the impetus to come to Ireland - and Cormac Mac Diarmada from the trad band plays on a couple of tracks on Cadence as the journey all comes full circle. On this episode of the TPOE podcast, we talk about Baker's journey, both physically and artistically - how she came through a creative block with this record, influences, Irish folk v American country, and go through each of the songs on Cadence.
