Forthcoming with another stellar release is one of Fantastic Voyage’s founding members, Danny Goliger. The producer, audio engineer, and instrumentalist presents his debut album, 'Meaningful Pursuits', a full-length IDM collection consisting of 11 tracks, representing his very personal growth as an artist and individual.
Goliger has captured some personal trauma and placed it into melodies, chords, and synths. These melancholy sounds are reflective of his healing from these wounds. When speaking about recording the album at that time in his life, Danny describes feeling like a broken computer simulation – glitchy and fragmented, which comes full circle as you listen to the record. His long-time musical collaborator, Benny Bridges, created generative visualizers for each track that also help convey this notion.
Deeply passionate about electronic music hardware, Goliger recorded this album at his studio in Echo Park using his analog synths, drum machines, and hardware samplers. Featuring a heady blend of experimental IDM/electronica, the album pays homage to his musical heroes including Aphex Twin, Autechre, Floating Points, Skee Mask and Proem to name a few. His penchant for audio engineering is on display, with this glitchy record showcasing a technical precision that blends seamlessly with his strong musical compositions.
Although this is the first solo LP for the Los Angeles producer, Danny is a prolific collaborator, producing and engineering on many diverse projects that span numerous genres. As a seasoned musician with many years under his belt, he can also be seen playing keys and drums in the Fantastic Voyage band and music-directing for Mija’s live shows.
