Opening with a glistening pad & tight off-beat percussive line, the title track Colos invites you to explore a sort of fantastical trek through the purest of euphoria, with its mellifluous warmth & playful vocal carrying you all the way to the end.
Radiating a neoclassical quality is the second superb offering, XR. Its gentle organic rhythmic elements & key-work paired with a subtle vox bathe you in a highly visceral state of bliss.
Finding deep resonance with the likes of forward-thinking arists like Max Cooper, Otik, Boards of Canada, Overmono, Jon Hopkins, & Ulrich Schnauss, Mattr has always veered towards the left-field end of the electronic spectrum, with granular synthesis, random midi-expressions and intricate drum programming at the root of his signature raw emotive productions.
Back in his hometown of Birmingham, he hosted nights at Black Box with fellow innovator Alex Banks & Maxxi Soundsystem, signing music to Faceless Recordings, Ozono, & TrippyCode. With support from Amé, Guy Gerber, & Laurent Garnier, to name a few, he went on to launch his own imprint Helical Scan with Lewyn Stan followed by Loft & Sound where he’s released a string of exquisite melters, including Primary, Spiel, & Celadon.
