Christian Vance returns to Monog Records with Five Thieves EP, his first full release after he first appeared here back in 2016 with a remix on Rave Nights EP by Juliane Wolf. As fate would have it, we’ve turned the tables and brought Juliane in on remix duties to return the favour. This is something we will actively promote at Monog, to reconnect artists musically, so keep an eye out for more like this. Christian is a power house on the Berlin club scene, his own fusion of House and Techno music is informed and influenced by his classically trained musical background which works perfectly with his electronic sound. He has played in various cities, countries, clubs and festivals in recent times, most notable Stattbad, Tresor and About Blank in Berlin, Club Kyo in Singapore and Berns 2.35:1 in Stockholm to name a few. Great to have him back once again.
Berlin based DJ and producer Juliane Wolf offers up a superb remix on Five Thieves. Juliane got into music through attending a DJ workshop at Club Kasablanca and it was here that she caught the vinyl bug. She explored the club scene in the following years and found herself playing at top venues before she entered into the world of music production. Her first cuts were a remix for Robert Babicz on his label Babiczstyle and original releases on Shaker Plates and Norobot Music. After spending time in Kiel and Cologne Juliane arrived in Berlin where she works on new releases as well as a live set where she combines analogue and digital elements. The remix intros with nice punchy kick drum that exudes an energy which is further enhanced by a rolling bassline and quality gated synths. Bright shuffling hi hats lead a rhythmic percussion parade as dancing arpeggios fill the groove. The ever-evolving bassline delights with an infectious prowess and is the centrepiece of the track for the duration. A wonderful upbeat and trippy slice that will not disappoint.
