The 22nd Avenue Red Podcast comes from Rotterdam-based DJ 751 (real name Jelle Hamstra), a DJ who is younger than his episode number and in this deliciously educational vinyl mix of high-quality old-skool Techno he has delivered a perfectly mixed selection of records that, barring one, were all pressed & released before he even started school. We admire this kind of dedication from DJ's who mine through the veins of electronic musical heritage and dig deep beyond the baize of current music to find their own concept of sound like Jelle has. Clearly he has done his homework and carved out his own niche of sounds, playing a fresh mixture of Techno, Electro and IDM that traces back to way before his time and leads up to the present day. His job working at the Distribution warehouse at the mighty Clone in Rotterdam can only help his cause, being surrounded by various sources of inspiration... and lots of records!
Originally from The Hague, the capital city of the province of South Holland, 751 started DJ'ing at the The Hague Sweatshop Skate Park as part of the Sweatshop Soundsystem and quickly gained attention with his unique collection of records and his enthusiastic, passionate way of playing through them. Since then he built up an impressive DJ's CV, earning himself a string of bookings over in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam at Festivals such as Lowlands, Pitch Festival, Off Centre, Dekmantel and also at the famous Trouw nightclub. He has shared the stage with big shots like Derrick May, Steve Rachmad, ROD & Boddika to name a few. But sometimes the best place to listen to pure quality is in your headphones.
