You swallow your pride , eventually the bitter just tastes like one of your normal bowel fluids. It becomes habit.
You must let the little things go, you tell yourself; and smile through the pain, ignore your body, your needs, your self…..just hold on…in a thankless dance which somehow never reaches a rhythm. Helter-skelter elbows and stubbed egos in this terrible tango of desire.
Before I met you I I paid my penance: pondering in solitude, accepting my loneliness and befriending it as a wise and well-meaning but ultimately unworthy friend.
Now I prepare to say good bye to you, friend, and welcome back the unworthy..
Give away that heavy price, Give away the collision of intimacy I find myself in. To go back to confusing sexuality , vicious vultures of identity and the sirens calling the ship of my sanity to them…. I find myself transfixed in their song… They beckon me closer and closer…..onto the hidden sharp rocks beneath the calm surface of the sea.
I choose to be free, and continue my journey…and even on the cold lonely desolate nights…find solace that I made this choice for myself….not because of your hate or disappointment…but because I deserve better.
