The new coronavirus, or COVID-19, is a vicious virus and is highly infectious, striking anybody within four to six feet. The virus lives for several hours on different surfaces and affects the elderly, the weak and the sick. More than 4,500 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the U.S., at least 88 have died, and the numbers continue to increase.
In a discussion with journalist Khalil Hachem on US Arab Radio, renowned fertility Dr. Nicholas Shamma recommends that people stay home if they can and keep the social distancing to six feet to slow down the spread of the virus. Pregnant women should stay home, avoid public gatherings and stay as healthy as possible. So far, there are no direct effects on fertility among man and women.
Dr. Shamma, a founding member of IVF Michigan Fertility Center, is a pioneer in reproductive medicine and infertility. He has performed more than 8,000 IVF cases worldwide and has more than 150 publications in the field. He will discuss infertility causes and remedies, advances of reproductive genetics, and new methods of fertilizing one egg to ensure a healthy baby.
