The final piece in the Make It Hallowed portion of our journey is a surrender, just like its counterparts in the previous two chapters (Quicksand and Split). This time, we’re finally ready to surrender the last inkling that we can ever have any control over, or ability to predict how another person will behave. But rather than feeling suspicion and scarcity at this fact, we’re able to feel reverence at what trust actually means when removed from certainty. What’s more sacred than realizing that every individual is as complex and ever-evolving as yourself, that everyone is a main character in their own story, that you have no control whatsoever over anyone…and in that humble and weighted frame of mind, still deciding to attempt connection?
