Folktronica is a style that was born as a seed sent by Mother Earth and reproduced around the world like flowers, being the musicians it's bees. From Latin America they made their way to the cities like the green arms of the Amazon, but with charangos, flutes and synthesizers, until reaching the most remote places of the Earth as a whole new voice in electronic music.
With the mission to find the precious balance between the world of traditions and technology, plus a touch of mystery and modernity, folktronica positioned itself as a genre in alternative websites such as Bandcamp and Soundcloud, and then became massive in Youtube and Spotify, which were filled with artists, fans and music that spread the style from Latin America to the world, finding then each region of the world its own interpretation of this mixture of ancient sounds and contemporary technology.
Today, in the midst of a chaotic present in humanity and in the face of a Western music industry focused on the purely commercial, the beauty and depth of this ¨mestizo¨ movement that speaks of Mother Earth, folkloric traditions, ancestral rhythms and themes of the spirit is often overlooked, meanwhile it keeps exploring with the highest musical technology and forming itself as a new great world underground movement. Today Ritmos del Sur undertakes a project to share, strengthen and value these musical ideas that already inhabit the whole world, with flavors that from Latin America also pass through Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and much more. ¨This is Folktronica¨ is an eclectic compilation of 14 songs that are immersed in this genre, a spiritual nectar that we hope will bring you peace, joy and lots of rhythm to cheer your body and soul.
This project was developed by Ritmos del Sur, with the sponsorship of Cosmovision Records, with its beautiful artwork designed by Choque and a sound exquisitely Mastered by Matías Parisi, both from Argentina and compiled by Felipe Nadeau, aka ¨El Extravagante¨, from Chile, now based in Dijon, France.
