For this week's mix we have a Movement Detroit special edition. This is my take on the vibe of the electronic music festival that has taken place at Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit since 2000. I have personally attended every year since 2001 and it has had a huge impact on my musical tastes and development. While the festival has changed over the years it has managed to retain a core uniqueness when compared to other festivals. The organizers (now the 10th year managed by Paxahau) have struck a delicate balance between commercial sustainability and artistic integrity.
This mix is made up of tracks either by or remixed by artists on the lineup for this year's festival. It starts out more tech-house and slowly works it way through the vibe of the festival. The ending I like to explain as a festival goer's exhaustion induced hallucination that they traveled back in time to the early days of the festival :-P
