Updated 2023 / c2017 Demo #1 Bad Moon Rising
This is my cover of a classic late 60's hit for Creedence Clearwater Revival. Written by John Fogerty, (the band's lead singer, guitarist and main songwriter). It is one of those tunes that everyone seems to know and a regular "jam" favourite (a simple 3 chord trick in D major here).

As much as I always liked this song, especially as a guitar player, I always thought the lyrics and tune were at odds with each other! The lyrics paint a picture of doom & gloom yet the backing track is bouncy and upbeat with a country flavour. Maybe it was rushed into recording or nobody really cared either way! Whatever. it's still a great sing-along melody and has stood the test of popular music time!

Ok, so for this version I found an A'Capella of John's real vocal line (via www.voclr.it) and a another one on KaraokeVersion.com. I used these two in this mix, so you could say (ahem!) that I duetted with John Fogerty on this... (ok, maybe not) Anyway I added my own country flavour to the backing track. All instrumental parts and guitars recorded in The Hutch.

I enjoyed this because it is basically easy to play, a foot tapper & fast but opened up a few country lead guitar licks to try out. CCR never did that much lead guitar if I remember rightly so I added some here. I am particularly happy with the Lead Guitar sound, which was played on an acoustic through Guitar Rig, as I was too lazy to get the Telecaster out!

Recorded using Ableton Live 9.7 in The Hutch Nov' 2017. NI Guitar Rig 5, LaunchKey, Electric Bass, Epiphone Acoustic Guitar. All parts played by me, but vocals are c/o Voclr and Karaoke Version.
